Eurovision, the song festival par excellence in Europe. Year after year, it becomes a great success and keeps almost all of Europe in suspense to find out who will be the winner of the festival.

Many of us even have our own little ritual: getting together with friends and family to sit in front of the TV and watch Eurovision live while we cast our own votes: “Portugal 12 points!”, “France 5 points!”… and so on, song after song until the results of the official vote are known.

Eurovision is a European tradition that has been a success for years. This 2022 without going any further, the festival has reached an audience of more than 75 million spectators.

Many of these viewers came from other territories outside of Europe and, more specifically, from Latin America. Perhaps that’s what gave the organization the clue to start planning an edition of the song festival in Latin America.

So, right now, it’s official, there will be a Latin Eurovision. We tell you more!

When and where will Latin Eurovision take place?

Currently, there is still no host city for Eurovision Latino. However, the festival’s production team is looking for a place that can accommodate an event of such magnitude.

However, it is known to seek a place among some of the most important markets in Latin America. This makes us think that the place of the Latin Eurovision in its first edition could be in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina or Chile.

We want more information about Latin Eurovision!

Latin or Spanish music is, these days, a very strong type of music in the industry. Thanks to Slowly by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee or at Dancing by Enrique Iglesias, it seems that Latin music has begun to cross borders and reach other territories such as Europe or Latin America.

Can you imagine a Eurovision with popular Latin artists like Karol G representing Colombia or Natty Natasha representing the Dominican Republic? It would be an event that many of us wouldn’t want to miss for the world.

Obviously, Eurovision is characterized by giving a voice and visibility to emerging artists who are less powerful in the market, so it could be artists that we did not know yet who participated in the Latin song festival -American.

Even so, a Eurovision in Spanish, in which the typical Latin genres such as bachata, salsa, cumbia or even reggaton predominate, promises to be quite a spectacle.

On the other hand, if the Latin American version of the festival follows in the footsteps of the other two non-European versions of the festival, it could be a complete fiasco. In fact, Voxovation is the company that will produce Latin Eurovision, and also the company that produces Europa: American Song Contest there Eurovision Song Contest Canada.

The American version took place this year and, the truth is, it was a failure. It didn’t have the expected audience and the YouTube videos of the performances speak for themselves: they have hardly any visits, especially considering the scale of the event.

On the other hand, the Canadian version is set to be held in 2023, it is not known if it will suffer the same fate as the version from its neighboring country, but it seems that it is on track to achieve similar results.

However, the Latin American version could be different, especially considering that of Eurovision 2022 online viewers, many of whom were from Latin America. It may also be that the cultural link of many Latin countries with Europe makes this festival have more weight on the American continent (in the central-southern part).
