With a screenshot, you can quickly and easily record a message sent to you on WhatsApp, and the screenshot is also an easy way to download images from a WhatsApp status. However, many users wonder if their contacts will notice. Finally, some WhatsApp alternatives already offer a screenshot notification – such as Telegram in secret chats.
With WhatsApp, on the other hand, there is no screenshot notification yet. So your counterpart does not notice when you take a screenshot of the chat history, his profile or status.
Screenshot notification planned for 2022?
However, it cannot be ruled out that WhatsApp will install a corresponding function in the future. Finally, WhatsApp has just announced that it will block the creation of screenshots for media sent for a single view. Screenshot notifications could be a next step.
However, there are currently no concrete indications of such a feature. Most recently, in 2019, a feature was discovered in a beta version of WhatsApp that allows users to block screenshots, at least on their own device. So far, however, it has not found its way into the final version.
There are also rumors circulating on the web that a third blue checkmark will show you when a screenshot of your chat has been taken. However, this is fake news that you should definitely ignore.
