There was a lot of Splatoon 3 news today, due in large part to a Splatoon 3 Direct that took place earlier on today. Not all of the interesting news was exclusively revealed in the presentation, however. For example, returning players won’t have to begin entirely from scratch. And they’ll be able to continue where they left off online in Splatoon 2 sooner than they think.
According to Nintendo’s official Splatoon website, “if there’s save data from Splatoon 2 on your system, part of it can be transferred to Splatoon 3”. It can only be done once per Nintendo Account, and the Splatoon 2 save data must be on the same Switch console with the same user account.
If the save data for Splatoon 2 fits that criteria, it can be transferred “by launching Splatoon 3 or entering the lobby while connected to the internet”. You’ll even be able to receive some in game rewards. A list of them can be seen down below.
- Receive three Gold Sheldon Licenses that you can exchange for main weapons, regardless of player level
- Join Anarchy Battles from the beginning of the game, regardless of player level
- Start the game with a higher rank, depending on your rank in Splatoon 2
- Get matched against players with similar skill levels from Splatoon 2
