Earlier this week, some people checking Microsoft’s cloud gaming beta website noticed something odd: listings for games like elden ring and Grand Theft Auto V not only said they were part of the company’s Game Pass offering, but they were also playable in the cloud.
Here is a screenshot of Elden Rings side taken from @toilet seatwhich clearly shows both the “GAME PASS” badge and the fact that it is playable in the Cloud Gaming beta:
entries for Grand Theft Auto V (who was already on duty and left) and weirdly soul hacker showed the same as none of the games were previously available on either Game Pass or Cloud Gaming, but now here they were. Even stranger is the fact that none of these things have ever been announced, which would be the case given how well-known they both are elden ring
There is a reason for this, of course, because Microsoft I’ve told you in the meantime Eurogamer that the listings were a “bug”.. “We are aware of an issue where some titles were incorrectly showing as available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate,” said a rep. “We rolled out a fix and it’s now updated.”
Normally th is kind of administrative backend stuff wouldn’t exist the
Putting those two things together, it seems entirely plausible that Microsoft just skipped the gun on a couple of GamesCom announcements. Calling these listings a “bug” certainly seems to dampen that enthusiasm, but GamesCom starts on August 22 just in case you still want to keep an eye on things.
