Alone in the dark, the groundbreaking 1992 survivor horror game, will be reimagined and remastered, publisher THQ Nordic announced on Friday. The new Alone in the dark takes players back to 1920’s New Orleans and the original game’s Derceto Manor, where Lovecraftian horrors await.
develop something new Alone in the dark is the Swedish studio Pieces Interactive (magic 2, Titan Quest: Atlantis), but the more recognizable name involved in the project, for horror game fans anyway, is Mikael Hedberg, whose author credits include Frictional Games soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Hedberg’s story is intended to be an original story, incorporating characters, locations, and thematic elements from the first three games in the Alone in the Dark series.
Original protagonists Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood return as playable characters, and each will experience their own perspective on the story. According to the official description by THQ Nordic Alone in the dark
To bring these monsters to life, THQ Nordic tapped artist Guy Davis, comic artist and creature designer who has frequently collaborated with Guillermo del Toro.
THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive promise exciting exploration, intense combat, and challenging puzzles all catered for Alone in the darkthe total package. According to THQ Nordic, the game has been in development since 2019 and will be released at an unspecified date for PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
