Diablo + Overwatch: Activision apparently plans two anime series

The signs are clearly increasing that both Diablo and Overwatch fans will also get their money's worth elsewhere, because in addition to new games, series implementations for both brands are apparently also planned.

Activision Blizzard has not yet made any official announcements, but Nick van Dyke, President of the Activision film studios, is now suggesting implementation. On his LinkedIn profile, he at least now confirmed the existence of both a series on Overwatch and Diablo.

In both cases, the series should be animated, but van Dyke leaves further details open at first. Even if both series projects actually exist, this does not mean that they actually see the light of day. After all, Blizzard has already discontinued several games in the past that were more or less in the spotlight. After all, the fact that van Dyke already lists both series in his LinkedIn profile can at least be understood as a good sign that they are actually being published.

However, both projects are not necessarily a huge surprise. Jeff Kaplan, Game Director of Overwatch, had previously expressed interest in an animated series on the action game – and as a result rumors persisted that there should actually be one. According to van Dyke, this series should have actually been "developed and sold". It is unclear who the buyer is and where the series could be seen at some point.

For some, Netflix may surely come to mind, because the streaming service also plays an important role in the context of the Diablo rumors. As early as 2018, the first speculations were circulating that a TV series on the daily action role-playing game was in the works and was being broadcast on Netflix. Van Dyke only speaks of an "anime style" in relation to this series, but does not mention Netflix either.
