Tips and Tricks for Soloing Legend and Master Lost Sectors
The objectives of Lost Sectors are simple: defeat the boss at the end and open the reward chest. At Legend and Master difficulties, these are designed to be a tough test for even the most experienced Destiny 2 players.
Champions abound and modifiers can be killers if you don’t plan for them. Still, there are a few things you can do to increase your chances of success.
Work on your power level first
No advice can save you if you are not powerful enough to meet the challenge. This directly affects your ability to give and take damage.
You should focus on increasing your power in other activities, especially those that reward Powerful Engrams and Pinnacle. Most players should not tackle Legend or Master Lost Sectors until they reach the recommended power level or higher.
Plan your load carefully
Loadouts are locked inside these Lost Sectors, so you can’t change gear while inside.
There will be champions, be sure to arm yourself with weapons designed to counter their specific abilities. The Match Game modifier will greatly reduce your ability to break shields that don’t monitor your weapons’ element type, and you should take advantage of damaging amp burns.
Pay attention to your lives and your timer
The Legend and Master Lost sectors have a system of lives. Each time you die and respawn, it consumes a life. And if you die when you’re not alive, then you’re sent back into orbit. Defeating Champions adds one life back.
It can be tempting to play extremely conservative, but there is a timer. Once it reaches zero, all of your bonus lives are canceled and you will only have one hit to get to the end alive.
Prioritize your targets and fight strategically
Champions are extremely deadly, but can be stunned if you use the right combination of weapons and mods.
You can use this to your advantage and temporarily take out the big guns from a battle while you mop up weaker targets, reducing the number of things trying to kill you. Take out melee fighters that can put you out of cover as soon as possible, and be prepared to spend your heavy or super ammo if you get overwhelmed.
Be willing to try, stop and try again
Sometimes the setup you thought was perfect just doesn’t make it. There is no need to keep banging your head against the same stubborn target. If you die too quickly, redo your setup for more survivability, using abilities that can keep you safe and weapons that allow you to get away.
If you’re short on time, consider a more aggressive build, like rockets or a sword that can instantly wipe out time-consuming enemies. And if the burn is arc, for God’s sake, bring Riskrunner.
