Apple has confirmed that the repair program will be extended to more countries before 2023!
Parts, tools and manuals to repair devices are becoming more accessible through the company’s self-service repair store program. After testing this solution on Phone 12 and iPhone 13, Apple has now extended the repair program for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro equipped with the M1 chip.
As Apple shared via its official website, this Tuesday, August 23, the repair program will be available for interested users. It includes the screen, top case with battery, Touch ID and trackpad. So like tool rental, for a week and free delivery.
The solution, which will benefit the 2020 M1 MacBook Air models, the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 2021 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro M1 models for now, will be available from this Tuesday for customers in the United States. However, the company has confirmed that the launch of the Self Service Repair Store initiative will reach several countries in Europe later this year.
He also confirmed that in the coming months he will include more repair options for computers and expand the offering to MacBooks with the M2 chip, such as the MacBook Air, iMac, and Mac Studio Display.
With this initiative, Apple hopes that self-service repairs will allow customers who are able to do their own repairs to access the same parts and tools that Apple uses, for much less cost than going elsewhere, when the device is without warranty.
With iPhone and Mac repairs, Apple stresses the importance of reading the proper repair manual to perform a safe repair. And only then, order Apple parts and tools through a dedicated online store for self-service repairs.
And there are more benefits. After the repair, customers who return old parts for recycling will receive a discount on their next purchase.
