These are good days for gamers: There are lots of new games and trailers to see at the opening show of Gamescom, and good deals are waiting in the shops for bargain hunters to discover. The traditional Wednesday offers are not only available on Steam, there is also a big sale on GOG with many reduced games.

Highlight of the week: Age of Empires 4

Age of Empires 4 shows the Ottoman and Malian units in the trailer

If you’re into real-time strategy but haven’t touched Age of Empires 4 so far, now might be one of the best opportunities to catch up. Because if you are unsure, you can still play the game for free until the end of the promotion on August 29th. In addition, two new factions were announced just yesterday, which will expand the existing selection as a free update in October. You can see them in the trailer above.
So far in Age of Empires 4 you can choose from eight factions with their own units and special strengths and weaknesses. You build buildings, erect walls and train soldiers who you then send into battle against AI or human opponents. While these skirmishes are fun, the main criticism we had during the test was the campaign.
