gamescom: Our 7 personal highlights
As always, the event was presented by the colleagues at Gamesradar and fired off trailer after trailer and news after news in around an hour and a half. To give you an overview, we summarize the most important announcements for PC gamers quickly and clearly in this article.

Off the Grid

Off The Grid: Atmospheric render trailer for the cyborg shooter
What was shown? Neill Blomkamp, the filmmaker behind District 9 and Elysium, shares a trailer for his cyberpunk shooter Off The Grid. It’s supposed to be a kind of Battle Royale 2.0 and based on Unreal Engine 5, although the details are still very unclear. The trailer is CGI and does not yet allow any real conclusions to be drawn about the gameplay – the futuristic setting finally becomes a little more tangible thanks to the trailer.
When is it coming out? So far there is no date for Off The Grid.
Stray Blade

Stray Blade: The action RPG from Europey shows crafting, fighting & more
What was shown? The action role-playing game with the dynamic fantasy game world Stray Blade from Europey finally made an appearance again and showed never-before-seen gameplay scenes including a crafting system and skill tree. GameStar exclusively revealed Stray Blade’s complex combat system in December 2021!
When is it coming out? The release is planned for 2023.
Lightyear Frontier

Lightyear Frontier turns fat mechs into space gardeners in the trailer
What was shown? The mix of open-world farming simulation and heavily armed mech action was presented and discussed in detail for the first time. The developers of Lightyear Frontier show how sowing, harvesting and irrigation work together with miniguns and rockets or how the dynamically changing seasons affect the alien planet’s ecosystem!
When will you come out? Lightyear Frontier is scheduled to start Early Access on Steam in spring 2023 and will be released after 1-2 years.
Layers of Fears

Layers of Fears: New horror revealed by the horror masters
What was shown? The horror experts at Bloober Team are back and are finally showing more gameplay from Layers of Fears, a reboot/reboot of the Layers series powered by Unreal Engine 5. They’ve proven the studio can be scary with Observer, Blair Witch and The Medium!
When is it coming out? The new video at least reveals that the release should happen early in 2023, so probably in the first quarter.
Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon – King Arthur is dead in this open-world RPG
What was shown? The open-world role-playing game, which is strikingly reminiscent of Skyrim with its first-person perspective, shows new gameplay with dark dungeons, sword fights, NPC dialogues and much more – all packed in a dense dark fantasy atmosphere.
When is it coming out? Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is scheduled to enter Early Access via Steam in Q4 2022.
Floodland

Floodland – Post-apocalyptic city building game shows the worst effects of climate change
What was shown? In the world of Floodland, completely devastated by climate change, you have to collect limited resources, make tough decisions and build a city of survivors. It mixes management, base building and survival.
When is it coming out? Released on November 15, 2022 Floodland via Steam (and should then be entertaining for a very long time thanks to the randomly generated end-time game worlds).
Rooted

Rooted – Reminds in the trailer of The Last of Us with base building
What was shown? Did someone here perhaps say The Last of Us for PC? Fast: The post-apocalyptic survival game with the grandiose Unreal Engine 5 graphics is back! This time there are new gameplay scenes from Rooted to see, in which base building is also shown for the first time.
When is it coming out? So far there’s no date, only the Wishlist option on Steam.
The Great War: Western Front

The Great War: Western Front is WW1 strategy from ex-C&C creators
What was shown? The announcement comes from Petroglyph, former C&C devs who most recently developed 8-Bit Armies and Forged Battalion. The studio is now unveiling The Great War, a WWI strategy game that combines real-time battles with turn-based global strategy. It should be extremely authentic: Weapons, artillery and tanks are historically accurately reproduced, the landscape of the maps changes dynamically due to weather, trenches, fire and shells.
When is it coming out? So far there’s only 2023 as a rough time frame. Until then, at least the trailer above will give you goosebumps!

- Deliver Us Marsthe sequel to the popular space adventure Deliver Us The Moon, revealed a new one Trailer with dramatic sequences and lots of sci-fi vibes.
- Soulsticethe dark hack & slash with fat boss fights and almost unhealthily huge swords, celebrated at the Future Games Show Steam demo release.
- The Gap dived with an exciting trailer out of obscurity – this is a single player adventure that revolves around deja vu and alternate realities!
- The Last Case of Benedict Fox is a dark Metroidvania sidescroller with a lot of Cthulhu atmosphere, crafting and nasty monsters – now there was 3 Minutes Gameplay.
- The Chanta single-player psychedelic horror game with a touch of Lovecraftian, turned into a new video more precisely before.
- Goat Simulator 3 caused Chaos and mischief in a new gameplay videothe developers can only laugh about the question about part 2.
- Ereban: Shadow of Legacy had a ninja appearance and unveiled a new trailer from the sci-fi stealth game about the deadly assassin Ayana, showing her shadow magic.
- The Devil in Methe latest installment in the Dark Pictures Anthology series a new trailer donated, which shows the cruel challenges of a psycho killer.
- SCP Secret Files is an indie detective game about paranormal cases and has im Debut Trailer Research labs, dragons, zombies and popcorn. Crazy.
