Yesterday evening the Future Games Show took place and among other things Rooted, a survival game based on Unreal Engine 5, made an appearance.
Rooted was announced for PC some time ago, but now had its big appearance at the Future Games Show as part of gamescom. Rooted is a survival action game developed by Headlight Studio on Unreal Engine 5.
Your character is thrown into a post-apocalypse around the year 2100 and you are only one of the few survivors. You fight your way solo or cooperatively with other players through the ruins of lost civilizations, the look of which was clearly inspired by The Last of Us.
In order to expand your camps and improve living conditions, you must – alone or with friends – go on a journey of discovery to collect junk and items, repair items or even create new ones. Of course, you are not alone in the game world, because you get to deal with other survivors, but also with hostile fauna.
Rooted is by no means meant to be static. From the forest to the city center you are in a large world that evolves with your actions: you gain access to new areas, new items and new crafting options over time. Major events have an impact on the world and should also present you with new challenges.
