Proscenic T21 Air Fryer: We Tested It to Tell You If It’s Worth It

If you are unfamiliar with Proscenic, know that it is an appliance brand to consider. It offers good prices and good products. We were able to verify this personally by testing your Proscenic 850T or your Proscenic P11 cordless handheld vacuum cleaner.

In this case, we tested the Proscenic T21 Smart Air Fryer, will it be worth it too?

Air fryers have become very popular in recent years. They are versatile, easy-to-use countertop appliances that are faster and more energy efficient than baking. But they have become a healthier alternative to frying.

An air fryer can give you crispy food without deep or shallow frying, so you can use a lot less oil for cooking.

But they’re not just for fish and chips. To learn more about its uses, benefits, and features, you can read our guide to air fryers.

T21 Air Fryer Design and Features

The T21 is a 1700W air fryer, with a large capacity of 5.5 liters. While that’s good news for the portions it can handle – it could cook fish or chicken for four people – it’s a massive black plastic and aluminum monolith (31.4 x 31.6 x 32, 6cm) which will take up a lot of your kitchen space.

Note that you should also leave 15cm of space around it while in operation, including plenty of room for airflow around the air intake at the rear. The metal case can get hot to the touch, so don’t get it too close to the edge of the counter where it may rub against it.

But it has all the features and functionality you could ask for in an air fryer. Moreover, it is very easy to use. Simply pull out the drawer, which contains a Teflon-coated cooking basket, add your food and use the LED touchscreen to choose your cooking program. The drawer and basket are dishwasher safe, so cleanup is quick too.

Proscenic T21 Air Fryer Performance

The T21 is the closest thing to cooking with one button. In fact, if you’re using one of the 8 preset programs, pressing a button is literally all you need to do.

An air fryer is not just an alternative to frying. It’s actually a mini convection oven, so you can cook a wider variety of foods in it than you might think.

The T21 has presets for obvious foods like fries, shrimp, bacon, and chicken, but also for less obvious foods like pizza, steak, and cake.

I disagree with the option to bake the pizza. Of course, there are recipes on the Internet for making pizza from scratch in an air fryer, as well as for baking it from frozen.

But the size and shape of the basket makes it impractical, unless you want to cook small and possibly misshapen pizzas one at a time. (Sounds like a fun Friday night.)

Still, it’s a much better alternative to leftover microwave pizza, even if you can only make a few slices at a time.

I’m also skeptical about cooking a steak in an air fryer and ending up with something that’s still juicy and pink inside, but I have to admit I haven’t tried that feature.

However, I tried baking roast potatoes and was quite impressed. It only took 18 minutes and they came out perfectly crisp. Are they as good as oven roasted? Maybe not, but putting parboiled potatoes in the basket, pressing a button, and getting a platter of baked potatoes 18 minutes later is worth it in my (lazy) book.

Instead of using the preset programs, you can choose to manually set the cooking time and temperature (it has a range of 77-205°C). The T21 also has preheat, program and keep warm functions and uniquely you can use them together, so you can program cooking and the T21 will automatically switch to keeping food warm until you are ready to eat.

All cooking functions are clear and well laid out on the control panel.

smart features

Of course, the T21 air fryer is characterized by its smart functionality.

We’ve seen more than one kitchen appliance with unnecessary built-in smart functionality that only seems to exist to give it a point of difference in the market.

Typically, the main benefits of smart features are the ability to program and operate a device remotely. These things don’t usually mix well with food prep, because what you really want is to be close at hand when cooking, for safety (ahem…the fire). Also, if you have to be in the kitchen to put the fried chicken in the appliance, you might as well turn it on at the same time.

So I was prepared to be unimpressed with the smart features of the T21.

The Proscenic app offers the same controls as the fryer’s touchscreen. So, as long as you have filled the basket with your recipe, you can start cooking through the app, adjust the temperature, use the preheat and keep warm functions and any of the presets.

The remote control functionality isn’t exactly amazing, but it does mean that if you have food ready, you can start cooking from the couch by pressing a few buttons on the app, or even via voice commands if you have a home assistant. .

However, the app also contains over 100 recipes, in the categories of meat, chicken, desserts, vegetables and more. And this is where it gets more interesting.

This gives you the opportunity to streamline the way you cook. Check out the recipes in the app on the way back, then stop by the store to buy the ingredients you need.

Come in, prepare the food according to the recipe instructions, and when it’s ready, just tap “Start Cooking” in the app next to your chosen recipe and the T21 will automatically choose the temperature and time correct cooking.

Proscenic T21

You have to admit, it’s wonderful. But don’t forget that this air fryer can only cook one dish at a time, so you’ll still have to prepare your sides on the hob or in the oven.

Keep in mind that the T21 is not compatible with 5G technology. And while the app is well-designed and easy to navigate, some of the language translations are a little odd: to schedule a kitchen, for example, you’ll need to click “book” or “make an appointment.”

Price and availability

The Proscenic T21 air fryer is available for purchase in Europe. You can also buy it from the Proscenic website, where it is priced at 105,65 $.

The T21 is relatively expensive for an air fryer, still not that expensive considering the large capacity of the fryer. We recommend checking out our list of the best air fryers in case you want to check out other options.

verdict

When it comes to cooking, the smart functionality will always be of limited use because at some point you have to put the food in the appliance, so it’s best to schedule cooking at that time.

Also, you don’t want to leave uncooked food in the fryer for a long time, and you shouldn’t have the fryer on when you’re away from home.

However, the T21 has everything you could want from such a device: it is spacious, efficient and easy to use. It’s a good all-rounder for lazy cooks, especially with its smart functionality. Plus, the app’s recipes, with their one-touch programs, offer an easy way to try new dishes and promise a new way of cooking.
