We’re all excited to try macOS Ventura… except those who don’t have a compatible Mac. These users will be forced to continue using macOS Monterey, which will of course continue to be updated with security improvements. But there are groups of developers working for make macOS Ventura installable on older Macs.
A modification with more and more pitfalls
The work is done from OpenCore Legacy Patcher, a software that modifies the startup of Macs and somehow “tricks” them into macOS bootable versions that are not officially supported. It’s unofficial, but at least you make the Mac compatible with some modern features like AirDrop.
Those responsible for the project comment in Ars Technica how until now this deception consisted of making the Mac think it was a more modern model, but from macOS Ventura more obstacles appear. From Apple they are removing support for models with an Intel chip, which are precisely the ones whose boot can be modified and add the drivers that these old Macs need.
After several months of work, we finally got macOS Ventura to work on old Metal GPUs!

But even with these problems, there is progress. MacOS Ventura successfully installed and running on a 2012 Mac minia computer from ten years ago while officially the oldest supported are from 2016. Not bad for those who dare to modify the system startup to get more modern functions.
This is supposed fashion It will appear compatible with macOS Monterey over time, when the system has been released to the public and the developers have had more room to reveal all their secrets.
