Sony is doing things that many consider incredible.The company announced a price increase this morning game console 5 Game consoles are found in a wide range of markets around the world. Company President and CEO Jim Ryan made the announcement this morning on the PlayStation Blog.
In the post, Ryan cited high inflation and unfavorable currency trends as the main reasons for the hike, saying it was “necessary given the current global economic environment and its impact on SIE’s business”.
The U.S. is the only market that won’t increase prices, but Canada, EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America will see the new prices effective immediately. Japan is also raising prices, though this will take effect on September 15. Sony didn’t say whether PS5 accessories, such as the DualSense controller, would increase in price.

In the end, Ryan said Sony’s “top priority” remains improving the usability of the PS5.
