Wrath of the Lich King Almost back to classic World of Warcraft thanks to a new expansion pre-patch released to classic servers. This is big news for the old, nostalgic and “back in my time” crowd who will soon be able to venture back into the frozen wastelands of Northrend to defeat Arthas once again. I’m sure you’ll get the mount you’ve always wanted this time around, man.
Players can choose to jump into this wave of new content with their pre-existing characters on the Burning Crusade Classic servers, or they can hop over to a new server to re-level up their heroes and experience the game without a fully inflated economy and a large number of guilds actually Looking for new members.
Wrath of the Lich King is highly regarded in the minds of OG World of Warcraft players, and it features great raid and PvP content while adding some quality of life changes that really help convince you not to bang your head Your desk – like dueling specs, dungeon detectors, etc.
You can now experience a slew of new rewards to help you prepare for the new expansion coming in late September, such as XP rewards, Tokens from Burning Crusade bosses that can be exchanged for decent level 70 gear, and The Plague event. This doesn’t offer anything particularly useful, but you’ll see both capital cities crowded with player-controlled zombies, which is pretty neat.
Despite the lack of collateral, I’d love to jump into the Lich King classic like the previous classic expansions. My only real experience with Northrend content has been brushing it for legacy mounts in the past, so it would be cool to actually experience Frozen Throne combat, Ulduar, Eye of Eternity, etc. I might even grind out a Green Proto drake again – because it’s actually an impressive thing to have in the Lich King Classic.
But this update brings up a big question hanging over the fans of the classic as well as the Blizzard team, which I’m sure is after the Lich King? Cataclysm, the expansion after this, is firmly the starting point of “Retail Warcraft” in my mind. This is where the world itself has changed, with Deathwing tearing things apart and threats everywhere. Personally I’d love to see some new classic content like you’ll find at Old School RuneScape. New content, old assets.
But what do you think? Will you jump into the Lich King Classic pre-patch? let us know!
