The premiere date of the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been set for September 13.
The show will premiere on Netflix, and all 10 episodes of the stand-alone series will premiere simultaneously. In addition to the announcement of the official release date, there’s also a trailer, and it’s rather “bloody” so it might not be safe to work on.
The show tells the story of David Martinez, a street kid trying to survive in a city obsessed with technology and body modification. After a personal tragedy, he decides to take control of his destiny by becoming a fringe runner and mercenary outlaw known as a cyberpunk.
Another key figure is Lucy, a skilled cyber marcher and a valued member of the Maine Corps of Mercenaries. Despite her highly sought-after technical abilities, she just wants to escape Night City and her dangerous past.
Developed by Japanese animation company Studio Trigger in collaboration with CD Projekt RED, the show is directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill), with Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academy) as lead character designer and executive animation director.
Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions ‘The Elder’) and Yoshiki Usa (Gridman Universe) wrote the script based on a story provided by CDPR. The soundtrack was composed by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka.
