Apple condemned the iPod in May, causing the latest models of the player to go out of stock within days. Officially we can’t buy it anymore, but the company still offers support for some models. Soon this list of supported models will be reduced
The last official bastion of the iPod: the workshops
We have received an internal document from Apple, via anonymous and proprietary sources, informing technicians at its stores and authorized distributors that certain iPod models will be added to the list of obsolete products on September 30th. They are:
- iPod Shuffle 4th Generation (late 2012 model)
- iPod na no 7th generation
- iPod touch 5th generation (late 2012 model)
With that, all models of iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle become obsolete. This means that no Apple Store or official reseller will provide repair services for these products, leaving unofficial repairmen as your last hope.
Is there an iPod left that can be officially repaired? Yes, the sixth and seventh generation iPod touch. Although it won’t be long before these products enter the product list ancient then finally further inflate the list of obsolete models.
