Anno 2070 is one of the titles that will soon be turned off online. But in the case of Anno 2070, the developers make an exception and deliver a new update.
It’s a fairly common practice to turn off the online features of older games to take some pressure off the servers every few years, although the community doesn’t like it that much. In the case of Anno 2070, however, things are a bit different, because thanks to an update, all of the game’s features should remain usable, including multiplayer.
Ubisoft announced this update by saying: “We are pleased…to be able to release an update for Anno 2070 that will allow you to continue playing the game after September 1st and hopefully for many more years to come.
The update should ensure that you can continue to participate in world events, keep your progress, continue playing all content, but also start multiplayer sessions. Thanks to the 64-bit port, they should even run a little more smoothly than before.
Anno 2070 will go into maintenance mode on September 6th at 6am. During this maintenance, all of your game history will be migrated to the new version. This maintenance work can last up to 24 hours, after which you can play the updated version of Anno 2070.
