We recently received statements about the new Perfect Dark from current Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty. In his statements, he shed light on the development of the game, denying some rumors that The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics would face each other. It looks like the two studios are operating in a healthy and in sync, or so Booty says.
What we currently know about the game is that It will be an action-oriented first-person shooter. It doesn’t look like this will be your typical shooter, so we can assume there will be cinematic sequences, puzzles, and fantastic spy elements.

And emphasizing the spy theme, Booty’s remarks hint at how they seem to approach the game’s plot and key elements of its gameplay. According to the manager, The Initiative is considering this reboot of the franchise with a mix between The Bourne Identity and James Bond.
We can assume that there will be whimsical elements with gimmicks typical of this type of filmespecially in the part that touches agent 007. Regarding the action, it follows that it will be as aggressive and raw as that expressed in the Bourne films.
We restart the game very cautiously. Some of these things don’t age well, do they? What’s super cool about Perfect Dark and Joanna Dark is the super agent fantasy, the spy fantasy, Bourne Identity and the kind of stuff you expect to see in James Bond. It’s always a good thing that people want to build on, but we have to make sure we do it the right way. So we are moving very cautiously.
We have to wait to find out more about the game. Everything indicates that it is not very ready to be shown at the moment. Personally, I like what I read and am a strong proponent that it should come out when you’re ready to. What do you think of these statements?
