Snoring can have many causes. With a Galaxy Watch and the Samsung Health App you can record your snoring. We show you how to activate the function.
Snoring has a medical term and a medically explainable cause: rhonchopathy is caused by partial or complete blockage of the nasal airways while sleeping and can have many causes: Excessive alcohol consumption, sleep apnea or sleeping in an unbalanced position are among them. If you suspect you snore at night, you can easily check it with your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 5.
You need the Samsung Health app for this. We’ll show you how to set up snoring detection.
This is how snoring detection works
For snoring detection, you need a charged Galaxy Watch 4, your smartphone and the Samsung Health app installed on it. Set up snoring detection using our instructions below, making sure your phone is charging while you sleep and is fairly close to your head, such as on a bedside table.
If the smartwatch recognizes that you have fallen asleep, the app automatically starts recording the ambient noise. Afterwards, the snoring noises are recognized and filtered out. Then you get an overview of when you snored for how long and you can even listen to the audio excerpt.
In the following we will show you how to set up snoring detection with the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Samsung Health app.
Finished! Your snoring will now be detected and recorded. You also have the option to not record audio or turn on snoring detection for just one sleep session. In addition to this, a graphic is displayed showing the correct position of your phone. In our experience, however, it is acceptable if the smartphone is up to one meter away from your head.
