A December 2 release date was announced at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase today Marvel’s Midnight Sun.
The date applies to the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S versions, with no mention of PS3, Switch, and Xbox One — consoles that were released alongside the game in August 2021.
This isn’t the first time a console hasn’t been mentioned in gaming news. Just last month, when the game was delayed from its October 7 release date, it was said that the last-gen and Switch versions would be released “later.” To this day, there is still no word on when or if the game will be released on older generation and Switch systems.
In Midnight Sun, slated for release in March of this year, you’ll take on the role of a fully customizable character called the Hunter. You are the child of Lilith, the mother of demons, who was awakened from her slumber by the Hydra using dark magic and science. To defeat her, you will call upon heroes like Blade, Captain America, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, Wolverine and more.
Since the game will feature various heroes from the Marvel Universe, you can also expect to meet other X-Men, Avengers, Fugitives, and more.
In the game, you’ll choose a squad of three heroes and fight enemies in various locations, including the Avengers Tower, Doctor Strange’s Sanctuary, and the Underground Hydra installation. When not fighting, the heroes hang out in the monastery, a living hub with real-time navigation. Here, you’ll interact with other heroes, take on new missions and build relationships.
It features a highly customizable tactical combat system where each hero in the game has a unique set of abilities. You can look forward to unlocking tons of unique outfits, leveling up skills, and more.
