Actually, Call of Duty: Warzone along with Call of Duty: Vanguard is currently on a farewell tour. A few weeks ago, the supposedly last season started with Final Stand, in which both games still receive new content. Finally, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 including Warzone 2 will be released soon, replacing the two predecessors.
At least that was the theory. However, a rumor is currently doing the rounds on the Internet that at least Call of Duty: Warzone should live on afterwards. We’ll see for you what’s behind the rumor and how we assess the veracity.
Incidentally, Activision is currently primarily delivering teaser trailers for Modern Warfare 2, which provide brief insights into the story campaign of the shooter:

– so the last battle. But the name doesn’t appear to be emblematic of the fate of Warzone, as reported by usually reliable insider Tom Henderson.
According to a Twitter post by Henderson, the original Warzone will continue to be updated with new content in the future. This is apparently accompanied by a name change: From November 28th, according to Henderson, the Battle Royale Warzone Caldera

However, it is unclear where Henderson gets his information from and, above all, what future support should look like. The article does not reveal whether major new content is actually planned or whether it will only be minor changes.
There is currently no official information regarding the future of Warzone. Nevertheless, it is not at all unlikely that the battle royale will be maintained a little further, although probably not to the extent that it has been the case so far. Such an example already exists in CoD history.
Despite the release of Black Ops: Cold War and Vanguard, 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continued to receive new content, albeit very irregularly. Such an approach would also be conceivable for Warzone, so that at least smaller content such as new weapons or a recurring seasonal event could be added.
