You may find yourself in this situation one day: you need to repair your Mac, it’s an old model that you don’t remember anything about, it doesn’t turn on anymore and you need to know what model it is and/or when it was made. No problem: there is a way to find the information you need just by its serial number
A code to solve all specification doubts
The serial number of a Mac is like its ID: it is an alphanumeric code that provides information on its generation and its main characteristics. You may not get the disk storage or RAM, but you will get the chip or the year of manufacture.
This serial number is printed somewhere on your Mac, you just need to find it by following Apple’s official instructions (they change depending on the Mac you have). You can also locate the serial number on the computer receipt, although this is something not many people keep for the life of the device.
Once you have that serial number, just enter it on the EveryMac website and this will show you all the computer data. Authorized reseller technicians will also be able to obtain this information from their own internal systems, so if you’d rather not give the serial number on an unofficial website like EveryMac, reaching out to those technicians may be another solution.
