New week, new luck: After hearing a lot of future music from Assassin’s Creed and Co. at the big Ubisoft event at the weekend, on Monday morning we will, as always, dedicate ourselves to the games that you can already play this week.
And this time there is a lot that gives hope: RRPGs, shooters and perhaps the most exciting new building game of the year. So let’s take a look at the Steam releases of the week together.
Highlight of the week: The Wandering Village

The Wandering Village – Your town has legs in this atmospheric building game!
Genre: building strategy game | developer: Stray Fawn Studio | Release: 14. September 2022 (Early Access)
The Wandering Village has an incredibly cool premise: in this building game, you don’t build your town on just any island, but on the back of a giant, wandering creature called Onbu. You are given the task of building a safe haven for the last survivors in a post-apocalyptic world through which the giant creature trudges.
The classic settlement construction is in the first place: You build dwellings, farms, craftsmen and everything else your inhabitants need to survive. But you also have to take care of Onbu, because when the giant dies, they say Game Over
. So remember to grow fodder for him as well, so that you can fire a catapult straight into his mouth in style.
Your village is constantly on the move: Onbu moves through different biomes, each with different advantages and disadvantages. While your crops thrive in the rainforest, nothing grows in the heat of the desert – and in an emergency you have to tap into Onbu’s blood as a food source.
If you not only want to build comfortably, but also like tough resource management à la Frostpunk or Banished, The Wandering Village could get your money’s worth.
