Right now, if you want the best TV experience Google has to offer, the best thing to do is buy Chromecast with Google TV; Although, unfortunately, to say it’s the best experience doesn’t really mean a whole lot.
[El Chromecast barato con Google TV se ha filtrado, y su lanzamiento es inminente]
For starters, it’s a relatively expensive device, due to the hardware needed to offer 4K resolution support, and yet it doesn’t update to the latest version of Android, remaining on Android 10.
New Chromecast HD
Google’s new solution is about to be presented, probably at the same event where we will see the new Pixel 7, and we already have the name. The words “Chromecast HD” have been discovered in the latest leaked firmware code, giving an important clue to the new device.
The version I got is from July and is most likely the same one that will come pre-installed on the device. It is based on Android 12 with Google TV. It also confirms the “Chromecast HD” brand. pic.twitter.com/KHL02I9uRW

The new Chromecast will be cheap, and it should cost the same price, around 39 dollars, as the basic Chromecast that can still be found in the Google store. This price will be possible thanks to the fact that the resolution will be limited to 1080p and therefore will not be able to take advantage of the most modern televisions, which have already made the leap to 4K.
The good news is that the new Chromecast HD It will come standard with Android 12with all the advantages that entails, and the support should be very good compared to the more expensive model, which cannot be updated beyond Android 10 due to the little storage it has.
Google will fix this by supporting “transparent” updates. Instead of downloading the entire update to internal storage before installing it, it will be possible to apply the update as it is downloaded. In this way, it will not be necessary to have free storage to be able to update to Android 13 in the future, or to receive new Google TV features, which will be pre-installed to provide the most up-to-date experience.
