after the reveal Assassin’s Creed Mirage Over the weekend, fans noticed that the game’s ratings suggested there would be real gambling, but Ubisoft A statement has been issued to assure everyone that it will not.
At the time of this writing, Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s official Xbox page states that the game will be limited to adults over 18 and will include real gambling, which apparently raised some eyebrows. In a statement to Eurogamer, Ubisoft has clarified the situation, promising there will be no “real gambling or loot boxes” in the game.
“Following the announcement of Assassin’s Creed Mirage during Ubisoft Forward, some store pages incorrectly displayed the game as an adult-only ESRB-rated pre-order game,” a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer. “While Assassin’s Creed Phantom is still awaiting ratings, Ubisoft wants to reassure players that there are no real gambling or loot boxes in the game.”
Obviously, the specific wording of “Real Gambling” does suggest that a gambling mini-game might appear in the final release, but it’s reassuring that the single-player game advertised as a back-to-basics is actually just that.
The Phantom wasn’t the only Assassin’s Creed announcement this week. There are actually four games announced in total. One of them is a mobile-only title that will be set in China, currently called Codename Jade. There’s also Codename Red, which finally brings the series to the highly sought after place in Japan. Finally there’s the codename Hexe, which doesn’t have much to share about it other than a fact attached by Far Cry 2 author Clint Hocking.
While not fully confirmed, Ubisoft is also experimenting with an “indie multiplayer experience” for Assassin’s Creed in the multiplayer world, but there’s not much to say on the matter.
