Regularly, Apple adds new spheres so that we can configure our Apple Watch with the information that best suits our day to day. It is, however, one of the first times that a sphere has been removed from the collection. A classic of the original faces that came with the first Apple Watch, in fact. A sphere that comes with the replacement, yes.

A classic that evolves

Do you remember the modular sphere? Surely one of the most successful since the launch of the original Apple Watch. It was a very customizable sphere with which we could have a good amount of information divided into one large complication and four small ones.

This modular sphere has, in fact, known several additions and evolutions. From the Modular duo to the compact Modular, which distributes information in different ways and also a new version of the same Modular. Now, with the release of watchOS 9, Apple retired the original modularas commented on Reddit.

Before and after

Old (left) and new (right) version of the modular dial.

We can achieve a very, very similar effect with the current Modular, which, in fact, enriches the central complication with a new design, much more graphic and with more information. It is also true that given their great similarity, the fact that only the most current version of the dial remains makes sense, even if some will be missing from the previous one.

watchOS 9 brings Nike watch faces to any Apple Watch...and there's one that won me over

In terms of spheres, the truth is that there are tastes for everything. With each version of the operating system of our Apple Watch, Apple offers us new options, such as the new Nike faces. Options that evolve, improve and allow us to see all the information we want just by turning our wrist.
