There it is ready. Call of Duty Next has just concluded and we now have a good idea of what the future of the franchise holds for us. So, between new modes for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, date for Warzone 2.0, details on mobile, find our full roundup.
Release date, all details about Warzone 2.0
We start with what we think was the most important reveal of this Call of Duty Next. Yes, we finally have a release date for Warzone 2.0 : November 16, 2022 on PC and consoles, so – obviously – PS4, PS5, Xbox Series and One (the supports were not specified). So yes, it’s still free to play and yes, it’s a new title, not a simple update! Above all, the sequel to the Battle Royale will arrive with one unpublished map “Al Mazrah”, which the Infinity Ward studio describes as “the greatest thing ever created” by its teams. The city appears as a great metropolis of the Middle East with many sights, some of which will bring back memories for fans of the old Modern Warfare: a city center; inside buildings; an airport ; a hydroelectric power plant. At first glance, the set looks very well designed.
Of course, that’s not the only information we got! Aside from some loot deemed more “logical” by the developers and vehicles that may have fuel issues, it’s the administration of the area and the Gulag that caught our attention. Yes, both features – very important to the Warzone experience – are back with some changes. For example, The area can now be divided into several circles (two, three, four) before returning to a point only to spawn melee in multiple locations on the map! As for the Gulag, sometimes the player has to team up with enemies to defeat another team and thus regain their place in the adventure. Also, there will even be AI, without further details.
More little information about Warzone 2.0, just for the form. The Al Mazrah map will feature “Strong Holds”, buildings protected by the AI. During a Battle Royale game, you can try to enter it to recover interesting loot. Most notably, during this Call of Duty Next, we learned of the existence of one Sandbox mode, “DMZ”, as soon as Warzone 2.0 starts. No further details at the moment, except that everything will be based on a lot of AI and will let you “create your life” on the entire map of Al Mazrah, whether it’s missions, “activities”, player tracking or total oblivion . In other words, a lot should happen there.
