You never win in Apex Legends? Tips to go faster

Apex, faster, Legends, tips, Win

Apex Legends is one of the most popular Battle Royale games, and also one of the most played games in the world. Unfortunately, it’s also a game that requires a good PC to be able to run it with good performance, so if you find you’re not having all the performance you’d like, in this article we’ll show you how. optimize settings graphics to get the most out of your hardware and win FPS in your games, have the PC you have.

Next we are going to tell you how to configure the graphics settings of the game to obtain the best possible performance but without sacrificing too much the graphic quality, since one of the strengths of this title is precisely the graphics section. In addition to game settings, you also need to configure your NVIDIA/AMD graphics boot commands and settings for even better performance; we will see it.

Optimized graphics tweaks in Apex Legends

The first thing you need to do is adjust your display settings to get the best possible performance. Ideally, you should be playing Apex Legends at native resolution of your monitor, which could for example be 1366×768 if you have an old laptop, or 1920×1080 if you have a good PC. If you have the option to enable NVIDIA Reflex, we recommend that you do so by selecting the Enabled + Boost option. It is also recommended disable V-Sync (vertical sync) so that the FPS is not limited to the refresh rate of your monitor.

Apex Legends adjustments

Apart from that, we are going to give you a series of recommendations regarding the graphics settings of the game:

  • Antialiasing: Disabled
  • Texture Streaming Budget: Select the lowest possible option.
  • Texture filtering: Anisotropic 2X.
  • Ambient Occlusion Quality: Off.
  • Sun Shade Coverage: Low
  • Sun shadow detail: bottom.
  • Spot Shadow Detail: Off.
  • Volumetric Lighting: Disabled.
  • Dynamic Point Shadows: Off.
  • Model detail: Bottom.
  • Detail of effects: low.
  • Impact marks: weak.
  • Ragdoll: weak.

Changing these settings in this way will allow you to noticeably improve performance in Apex Legends without sacrificing too much on graphics quality, although if your PC allows it and you’re not happy with how the game looks after that, you can try changing some of these settings to Medium instead of Low.

Configuring Boot Parameters

If you have Apex Legends on Steam or Origin, there are a few additional tweaks you can make to improve the game’s performance. Let’s take Steam as an example: right-click the game in your library, then click Properties. In the general tab, which is the one that appears when you enter Properties, you will see that there is a box where you can write, just below “Launch Settings”.

Steam Launch Settings

There you need to add the parameter “set +fps_max XX” (without the quotes), where XX should be a number equal to the refresh rate of your monitor minus 4. For example, if you have a 144 Hz monitor, you would write set there +fps_max 140 for optimized performance.

Apex Legends on NVIDIA and AMD graphics

Whether you have NVIDIA or AMD graphics cards, there are a few additional settings you can configure to further optimize the performance of Apex Legends on your PC. Let’s start with NVIDIA, for which you have to access the NVIDIA Control Panel (Usually you can do this just by right-clicking any empty space on your desktop).

Then go to “Control 3D Settings” and open the “Program Settings” tab. If Apex Legends does not appear in the drop-down menu, you will need to press the Add button and find the executable (usually it will be in “C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonApex Legends and select r5apex.exe”. Once done , you can configure the options, and here are the recommendations.

  • Image Sharpness: NVIDIA Recommended (Sharpness: 0.50 Ignore Film Grain: 0.17)
  • Anisotropic filtering: controlled by the application
  • Antialiasing – FXAA: Disabled
  • Antialiasing – Gamma Correction: Enabled
  • Antialiasing – Mode: Application Controlled
  • Antialiasing – Transparency: Disabled
  • Max background app frame rate: Disabled
  • CUDA – GPU: all
  • Maximum Frame Rate: Disabled
  • Monitor Technology: G-Sync
  • Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA): Disabled
  • OpenGL rendering GPU: automatic selection
  • Power management mode: prioritize maximum performance
  • Preferred refresh rate: highest available
  • Shader cache: enabled
  • Texture Filtering – Anisotropic Sample Optimization: Enabled
  • Texture Filtering – Negative LOD Bias: Allow
  • Texture Filtering – Quality: High Performance
  • Texture Filtering – Trilinear Optimization: Enabled
  • Thread Optimization: Enabled
  • Triple buffering: disabled
  • Vertical Sync: Off
  • Pre-rendered virtual reality images: 1

If you have NVIDIA GeForce Experience installed, we also recommend that you go to Settings -> General and disable the in-game overlay. In Settings -> Shield, disable Gamestream, as these are two settings that, although it may not look like it, consume system resources.

Now let’s see what you need to configure if your graphics card is from AMD. Go to AMD Radeon settings and click the Gaming menu -> Select ROE. Here are the options you need to configure:

  • Antialiasing mode: use app settings
  • Anti-aliasing method: multi-sampling
  • Morphological filtering: disabled
  • Anisotropic Filtering Mode: Use Application Settings
  • Quality of texture filtering: performance
  • Surface Format Optimization: Enabled
  • Wait for vertical refresh: always disabled
  • OpenGL Triple Buffering: Disabled
