While online play on PS4 and PS5 does not require a PlayStation Plus membership, Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles require an Xbox Live Gold membership. On PC, a Battle.net or Steam account is enough to join the fight. Finally, note that the beta will be available in crossplay on the second weekend.
