INCISION is the new bloody retro shooter from the solo developer SmoothBrainDevin this case, published by hyperstrange. We’ll make our way between nightmarish industrial areas, overgrown cityscapes and surreal alien structures.

INCISION’s fast-paced gameplay
As soon as we click on a new game we will see that we have multiple difficulty options, we can even adjust enemy life, damage and speed to create a custom difficulty. In addition, the game allows us to activate a series of cheats, such as god mode, all weapons and ammunition or a free camera (the latter will require restarting the game to deactivate it).
Well, once we’ve selected everything, we’ll get straight to the action. It only takes a few seconds of movement to know the type of game we are with, INCISION it’s basically a style shooter LOSS, very fast, bloody and frenetic.
We move very quickly from the base, although we can sprint to add more speed. Enemies are shooting at us and will constantly come at us so we must always be on the movewhile we collect ammunition and other items on the ground (just go over it).
We find a variety of weapons, from the revolver to the rocket launcher, passing by an insect which throws blood or a rotary blade among others. We can also kick, which will also help us find secret rooms, hidden behind false walls.
Variety of enemies, levels and non-translation
The enemies are not exactly varied, there are 4 or 5 different ones, apart from the bosses. For example, we have some kind of spiders that will approach us, in addition to being able to shoot us, then larger monsters that will throw rotating blades at us or others that will attack melee, among others.
For the moment, INCISION It has 7 playable levels, one of them being a boss. The first ones are a bit short, but as we progress the scenarios are wider and more labyrinthine, in addition to having more enemies. Levels are based on the structure of reaching Site X by opening up the area bit by bit.
Another important thing to note is that The game has no Spanish translationfor now you can only play in English.
Technical section and soundtrack
Developed in Unity, graphically INCISION it’s pure retro, pixelated textures, few polygons and effects and some 2D objects. The sets are dark but well decorated, there is dirt and blood everywhere, as well as fluids and other extraterrestrial things. Out of curiosity, on PC you can set the resolution to minimum and leave it looking even more retro if possible.
To say that despite being a title still in development, the performance is quite stable and we did not encounter any type of bug throughout the game.
The soundtrack is entrusted to JM and Frédérick Chicoine “iNi”; an entire album of atmospheric horror and metal laden themes sure to delight fans of the genre.

INCISION it’s extremely funnyis one of those games that invites you to have a good time, once you start playing time will pass. Not having a translation could be a problemeven if it is true that really there is little to readthis obviously does not mean that we do not expect a translation later.
Yes for now It’s a very short early access, to take a few hours or 3 in an afternoonhey wait for more content. One thing I couldn’t get out of my head is that is perfect for the Steam Deckyou put it wherever you want and enjoy a good retro shooting game.
Without a doubt, it is a game more than recommended and, if done right, it could be a pretty remarkable final match.
