New to Steam
This week is packed with exciting new releases
Was ist Heart of the Machine?
Heart of the Machine offers you a huge, procedurally generated sci-fi world thousands of buildings and millions of citizens
as a playground. They are not aware of your existence and so you can manipulate them from the shadows, make plans and become more powerful.
Your goals are not set in advance: you want them only
overthrow the current government and put other rulers in power? Do you see yourself as more of a leader, or do you want to bring about the city’s downfall by turning their own weapons against them?
Story, tactics and decisions
on Steam Heart of the Machine already promises a lot of exciting features. Here’s everything you need to know, summarized:
- Do what you want: As already indicated, you can pursue a wide variety of goals. You can control parts of the colony, or all of it yourself, establish a government of your choice, use mechs to wage war against humanity or trigger a nuclear apocalypse. However, it is still unclear how exactly this all works. However, the basic mechanics should be easy to learn.
- Tactical Battles: Heart of the Machine promises combat on multiple levels. On the one hand, you can destroy entire blocks of houses with huge mechs. However, the clashes probably also take place in individual rooms and buildings. There you can then manipulate the existing devices to turn printers or televisions into death traps.
- Many stories: The strategy game also wants to have a big focus on the story. So there should be several endings for a campaign and you can discover side stories. However, the most interesting stories should be created by you and your decisions. For each of your actions has good and bad consequences. With this goal, Heart of the Machine is reminiscent of building games like Norland:

Norland wants to tell stories that Rimworld would be jealous of
What do you think of Heart of the Machine? Do you find the setting and approach of the game exciting? Do you want to rule over humanity as an ingenious AI, pull the strings in the background, or just wipe them all out? Or do you prefer to build your cities and colonies with your own hands and are less interested? Write your opinion in the comments!
