Streaming giant Netflix continues to intensify its efforts in the gaming space. Now they have also founded their first in-house development studio.

As part of the streaming subscription, Netflix has been offering access to various exclusive mobile games at no additional cost for some time. Incidentally, no one made a secret of wanting to further push their own efforts in the gaming area. A separate developer studio, which has now been founded, should also help in the future.

To date, efforts in this area have been expressed in the fact that Netflix has already bought and incorporated existing developer studios. Earlier this year, for example, it acquired Helsinki-based studio Next Game, previously Oxenfree developers Night School Studio and Boss Fight Entertainment.

Now they are going one step further: with the first completely in-house development studio, which is being built from scratch. Netflix’s fourth development studio will also be based in Helsinki, Finland, and will help the streaming service bring out more proprietary and exclusive games for its millions of subscribers.

While the company’s focus to date is on iOS and Android games at no additional cost as part of the subscriptions, this is said to be the first step towards its “vision to build a world-class gaming studio”.
