Hunt: Showdown is an incredibly atmospheric game. The setting in the bayou of the late 19th century is quite impressive and the disgusting monsters aren’t bad parents either. It sounds all the more strange at first that a reconnaissance drone is now coming into play with update 1.10.
But it is not a mechanical construct, but a lively insect! How exactly our little friend works is explained in this article. If you want to know all the information in detail, then take a look at the live stream from the development studio:

Stalker-Beetle
The Helpful Bug is a piece of gear, just like a Healing Syringe or a Molotov Cocktail. So you can put the little rascal in your pocket and use it whenever you want. You can also find the bug in the game world by small cocoons. The insect can also be used multiple times if you are careful with it.
But what does the beetle do exactly? After throwing him, you can see and control him with his eyes. The insect sees permanently in darksight, so it should be easy for you to taunt your opponents.
You can also sacrifice the little stalker and blow it up, doing minor damage to your opponents if they don’t shoot the bug first. You can see what the beetle looks like and how it works in the above live stream from minute 29:20.
Just a few months ago, the three-year-old multiplayer shooter set a new player record. You can read why the shooter suddenly became even more popular in the following article:

Never before have so many people played as right now
What else is coming with update 1.10?
We summarize the most important changes here in a quick run-through.
- Map Changes: Stillwater Bayou and Lawson Delta are getting a bit of an overhaul. For example, the first card gets a new small island at Alice Farm. In addition, the spawn points of the maps will be changed to prevent unfair spawn fights.
- Gunplay Changes: A few weapons will be adjusted. Among other things, Compact Ammo Rifles, such as the Winfield 1873, will have a longer range.
- Hunter Changes: Poison Sense is increased to 150 meter range, Ghoul and Conduit are also buffed.
- Questline System: The new Questline system is launched. You collect stars for every quest you complete. If you have earned enough stars, you will level up and receive rewards.
- Even more changes: Some item prices will be adjusted, trait upgrade costs will go up and down, and you can now find consumables around the map – such as our friendly bug.
A perennial theme in multiplayer shooters is matchmaking. Sometimes you feel superior to your opponents, sometimes inferior. In the podcast we talked about so-called skill-based matchmaking, whether it ensures fairer matches and what we think of it. Have a listen:
