You’re not ready for the racy card game that banned Kirby Devs

A collage of images shows censored depictions of Chef Kawasaki in revealing clothing.

Haven’t you always wanted to play a card game? kirby‘s Chef Kawasaki wearing a row of microscopic bikinis? Neither have I, but for a brief shiny window this month, you theoretically could, thanks to a Japanese fan who created an M-rated deck that delivers just that. But that’s all in the past kirby Rights holder HAL Laboratory did what IP holders usually do and asked for distribution to stop.

As reported by vending media, The microbikini Karuta by chef Kawasaki is a fan-made physical deck inspired by a wave of memes dressing the jumbo chef in a form-fitting two-piece swimsuit. Created by Haru Uchidathe game was listed for sale on Booth.pm, the Japanese online marketplace for independent developers. A low price apparently helped it sell out just before HAL Laboratory got wind of it and notified the creator. As such, they have ripped the game from Booth and will not be distributing it digitally, according to the game’s Twitter account.

Google Translate gives the following interpretation of the original Japanese tweet:

[Notice] We have just received a message from [HAL] Research Institute Co., Ltd. that they will withdraw the exhibition [Cook] Kawasaki Micro Bikini Karuta (Booklet version/DL version), so we are stopping distribution! Thank you to everyone who enjoyed. And, HAL Laboratory, I’m really sorry for the inconvenience!

The game’s booth site now sits empty, save a profile and banner image with some Kawasaki micro bikini art.

Although the game is no longer for sale, much of the art can still be found on the game’s Twitter account. Suffice to say it’s mostly NSFW, but here’s one of the tamer ones:

Because the printed version of this sold out Pretty soon there will be at least one physical record of this game that has been around for some time. Something of a collector’s item I suppose.
