Beyond Good & Evil 2 breaks a record no one wants to break

break, breaks, Evil, Good, Record

5,158 Roofs between announcement and release: With over 14 years of development, major changes and constant postponements, Duke Nukem Forever has so far been considered a negative example of what can go wrong in game production.

Now, however, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is breaking that record, or rather it was a while ago. one Twitter user noticed that Ubisoft’s game has had more time since it was first introduced with a teaser. More precisely passed since the first official announcement and now 5,236 Roofs.

Since Beyond Good & Evil 2 – if it appears at all – is still a while away, this inglorious record will be expanded. In the future, Ubisoft’s sequel will (even more often than now) replace Duke Nukem Forever as a frequently used example of long development times.

How is it going?

Apparently, Beyond Good & Evil 2 had to endure several changes of direction. So the gameplay presentation from 2018, which promised a really big and impressive game, may no longer correspond to reality. This gameplay we mean:

Most recently, Beyond Good & Evil 2 saw a chair-back, with Sarah Arellano (WoW, Saints Row) taking on the role of senior writer. However, there is still no trace of a release date.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is the spearhead of a whole squadron of games that are a long time coming. Our rundown recaps what’s going on with Vampire: Bloodlines 2, Dead Island 2, and Skull & Bones:

hope dies Last

It is well known that hope lives the longest. Even Duke Nukem Forever appeared at the end, albeit with little sympathy from fans and press. Most of the time, the problems that lead to a long development time also show up in the final product.

This can come from big changes in the direction of the game. But that doesn’t always mean bad news. For example, Team Fortress 2 was originally announced as a realistic military shooter and appeared almost ten years later as a colorful hero shooter, which still inspires many players today because of the well thought-out game design.
