Last week we unveiled some new gameplay footage from the game’s prologue for you to check out here.
We want you to be able to fully enjoy and be immersed in the audiovisual experience we create contemptso by showing the beginning of the game, we’ve given you just enough to dip your toes into the world of contempt without giving away too much. This is just a small taste of what to expect!
I know some of you may be new to this contempt and if so, here are some things to know:
contempt is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game.
contempt is set in a nightmarish universe of strange shapes and sinister tapestries. The “map” of contempt is a fascinating organic labyrinth. Each region or area is a maze-like structure of different rooms and paths that you can navigate through. As you battle your way through the vibrant world of contempt You must discover how you interact with the world around you by learning how different triggers and traps are interconnected and how each action can produce positive or negative reactions.
Puzzles, Shooting, Survival and much more…
contempt combines puzzle mechanics with shooting and survival mechanics to create a truly immersive and atmospheric horror adventure.
Puzzles within the game are an integral part of the story and are not intended to give the impression of being added after the fact. So we’ve spent a lot of time making sure they fit perfectly with the gaming environment and enrich your experience.
Even though contempt is not a first-person shooter, shooter elements that are essential for survival come into play later in the game. The weapons you will encounter contempt Give players more choice and add an extra layer to interact with the world around them. The safety and confidence of wielding a gun can be instantly shattered when you run out of ammo or something jams unexpectedly. Ammo shortages or restrictive inventory space can significantly impact short-term fight-or-flight decisions. These interactions change the way you feel about your surroundings and create feelings of tension or uneasiness, and we have endeavored to capture this contempt.
We have been inspired by all kinds of art, literature and films.
contempt started out as a small personal project, but as the initial idea had a strong impact on the people who joined the team at the time, it soon grew into an ambitious project that took many years to complete. The overall inspiration comes from all the experience our game director and art teams have had over their lives, all fused into this strange looking world and the story it has to tell.
The overall style is influenced by architecture, technology, art, literature and biology. It is a mixture of Gothic style and modern industrial elements. We drew inspiration from the works of HR Giger and the Polish painter Zdzisław Beksiński, and from films such as Cronenberg and Lynch. However, our incredibly talented graphics team handcrafted every gruesome detail found in the game to create a world that has its own uniqueness contempt Twist. We believe that by combining both we have created a style that is expressive and open to interpretation.
In Scorn, expect to be dropped into the world.
contempt based on the idea of ”being thrown into the world”. You begin your experience isolated and lost in a dreamlike but desolate and derelict world. As the game progresses, it becomes clear that everything is in there contempt
The disturbing environment is not only a character itself, but also a storyteller. You have the opportunity to experience the history of contempt by exploring the world and logically trying to find connections between the things you see.
It’s important for our team that we keep some of them contempt Secret under wraps as such a large part of the experience comes from you thinking about the game and what it means.
We are very happy to bring contempt on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC on October 14th. It will also be available on day one with Xbox Game Pass. Stay tuned for the last few weeks leading up to launch contempt News and information on Twitter at @scorn_game and ours official site.

Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of strange shapes and sinister tapestries. It’s designed around the idea of ”being thrown into the world”. Isolated and lost in this dreamlike world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear way. The unsettling setting is a character itself. Each location contains its own theme (story), puzzles, and characters essential in creating a cohesive world. During the game you will unlock new areas, acquire various skills, weapons, various items and try to understand the sights presented to you. GAMEPLAY FEATURES Connected “animated” world Scorn is set in an open world with various interconnected regions. Each region is a maze-like structure with different rooms and paths to explore. All of the storytelling takes place in-game, with no cutscenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing world you find yourself in. But keep your eyes peeled – the game shows you no sympathy if you miss something important in your troubled journeys. Full Body Awareness Players will experience greater immersion when they are aware of the character’s body and movement. Interaction with the world is realistic – objects are picked up with your hands (instead of just hovering in the air), machines and instruments are operated by grabbing the controls, etc. Inventory and ammo management Your equipment is defined and limited. This plays a huge role in keeping the player in an even greater state of awareness throughout the game. Players must think about when to fight and when to take cover, and how their actions affect the world around them. Different playstyles are required to advance.
