Horizon: Zero Dawn is not necessarily an old game, but a remake for the PS5 is said to be in the works.
Remakes of earlier classics are now de rigueur in the games industry and are also very welcome, as they enable the renewed enjoyment of earlier top titles on a modernized technical basis. However, more and more titles are now being added that are actually not that old. After The Last of Us, Sony seems to be preparing to modernize another blockbuster.
What is meant in this case is Horizon: Zero Dawn, which was only released for the PS4 in 2017 and still looks very reasonable by today’s standards. Nevertheless, there are now several reports that a special remake of the title for the newer PS5 is in the works.
MP1st refers to “a source close to the matter” that a remake for the PS5 is actually currently being developed. However, it is still unclear whether it will only be a remaster or really a more extensive remake. on VGC jumped on the bandwagon, citing his own source, and reported on such a new edition. So there really seems to be something to this.
In any case, PS5 players should then be able to enjoy improved animations, an optimized lighting system and revised textures. Better character models, which should then be more similar to those of the successor Horizon: Forbidden West, are also on the agenda, as well as better options in terms of accessibility, different graphics modes and more.
Of the VGCreport goes a little further: According to this, the Horizon series should also play a role in the multiplayer area in the future, after both parts had previously dispensed with a co-op mode. Guerrilla is said to have saved such a feature for a future Horizon project, of which the VGC-Sources believe it will be Horizon 3 or a spin-off.
