A British media group, Sky, just opened up a complete ass on twitterafter trying to hang wiv da cool kidz while promoting its new partnership with David Beckham’s eSports company Guild. Ask the followers of the [checks notes] Technical support account tweet something a screenshot of their “favorite childhood indie game,” they offered, with a picture of…Altered Beast. The infamous indie game published by Sega and 1988th.

The network of television stations and broadband coverage formerly owned by Murdoch is now in the hands of Comcast and it seems that this corporate background has somewhat distorted their vision of independence. Responses to the tweet happily suggest alternative childhood indie favorites such as: gloriole, Super Mario 64and Skyrim.

Others have helpfully suggested Dune II, Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfareand one person dug up an obscure title called tetris.

The support account has started responding to the sarcastic replies with protests in the last few minutes (about three hours after the tweet) that they meant “#RETROGAMES”. But it’s much too late for that.

I too dared to make a suggestion.

Why a support account was the source of this silliness isn’t clear, but they’re now desperately trying to admit the error while explaining to customers why their internet might be down. It’s a very strange situation to be in. And now we’re making it worse for them by posting their mistake on a well-read international website.

Don’t feel bad for her. You should see how much they charge for theirs crappy television and internet. Just imagine Comcast fees and serviceand you have most of the way there.

To their credit, they have yet to delete the tweet. And you know, this is my first time hearing about Guild, so maybe something is working?
