How to Get Moondew Nectar in Slime Rancher 2

Moondew, Nectar, Rancher, slime

Moondew Nectar is a food resource in slime farmer 2 which you need to collect in order to feed Flutter Slimes.

Feeding a Slime their favorite foods will yield more of their Plorts, which you can then use to craft new items and abilities, or sell at the Plort Market for Newbucks. There are even Gordo Slimes that you have to feed their favorite food to force them to explode and stop blocking a path or door.

However, you can’t access Moondew Nectar until you’ve gone through a few hoops, and even when you locate Nectar, you have to go at the right time to add it to your inventory.

To help you feed your Flutter Slimes ASAP, we’ve detailed how to get moondew nectar in Slime Rancher 2 below, plus everything we know about Flutter Slimes, including how much Nectar it takes to detonate a Gordo Flutter Slime.

How to Get Moondew Nectar in Slime Rancher 2

Moondew Nectar is the only type of Nectar currently available in Slime Rancher 2, so you’ll need to locate it for any Slimes that have Nectar listed as their favorite food, which is currently only Flutter Slime. We have a handy Slimes Diet page where you can quickly check out all of Slimes favorite diets and foods.

You can only find Moondew Nectar at night in the southeast area of Starlight Strand, starting right on the border between the northern and southern areas of the island. If you’ve filled out the map, it’s the southeastern pink area.

We were able to find Radiant Ore and build a Jetpack to float over the cliff blocking the north and south areas to access where the Moondew Nectar is, but there might be other ways around it if you go explore – but we recommend getting the Jetpack for a quick climb.

Use the Jetpack to quickly access the southern area of Starlight Strand.

When you reach the southern area of Starlight Strand, keep an eye out for two things as you search for Moondew Nectar:

  • Round and blue resources on the ground
  • Lilac flowers growing tall

To get Moondew Nectar, you need to pick up these round blue resources lying on the ground, which drop from lilac flowers growing high up – but remember that you can only find and collect Moondew Nectar at night. Slime Rancher 2 seems to file between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. like the night.

Moondew Nectar and the flowers from which they fall.

You can switch to morning or evening while sleeping at home, but keep in mind that it takes a while to get to Starlight Strand, which could reduce your Moondew Nectar cultivation time.

Finally, Moondew Nectar will not appear if you look directly at the area where it is supposed to appear. If you’ve returned to an area where you usually farm Nectar and it’s not there, loop around the spot and then return to see if it’s already spawned.

How much Moondew Nectar is needed to blast Gordo Flutter in Slime Rancher 2

You have to feed Gordo Flutter Slimes x15 Moondew Nectar or x30 other types of Nectar to explode it in Slime Rancher 2. The same goes for all the other Gordo Slimes, except instead of Nectar, you have to feed the other Gordo types their favorite diet or favorite food.

So a Gordo Tabby Slime, for example, would explode after being fed x15 Stony Hen, or x30 other types of meat. This number appears to be reduced from the x50 food resources needed to pop most Slimes in the first game, but additional updates may add Gordo Slimes that need more food to pop.

A Pink Gordo doesn’t have a favorite food, so you can feed it anything to make it pop.

Everything Else We Know About Flutter Slimes in Slime Rancher 2

Flutter Slimes are new to Slime Rancher 2, along with Cotton, Angler, Batty, and Ringtail Slime variants.

As you know, Moondew Nectar is a Flutter Slime’s favorite food, so feeding it will double the amount of Flutter Plorts it produces when fed. If new types of Nectar are added to the sequel, you will also be able to feed it Flutter Slimes, but this means they will only produce one Flutter Plort at a time.

Their Slimepedia entry describes Flutter Slimes as ‘a shining example of natural beauty in an already beautiful world‘only when fed Moondew Nectar’will reward you with the soothing aura they produce after eating it which reduces any slimy agitation nearby‘. Pretty handy if there are a lot of hostile Slimes roaming an area.

The downside to Flutter Slimes is that their cute wings mean they like to fly…a lot. Keeping them confined to your porch ranch won’t really work, but since nectar is their favorite food and nothing grows there, at least they won’t steal food from other Slimes in the area.

Hope you have fun exploring Rainbow Island!
