Call of Duty looks set to return to advanced sports with Advanced Warfare 2 – report

call-of-duty Keep running out of ideas because it looks like we’re getting a new one Advanced War Game from Sledgehammer Games. The studio created Advanced Warfare, continued development on WW2, and the underwhelming Vanguard.

Assuming Call of Duty’s development cycle goes as planned, Advanced Warfare 2 will follow Treyarch’s game, the next game in the series after this year’s Modern Warfare 2.

Can you thrust jump?

The news comes from a report by Ralph Valve, a leaker with a proven track record of Call of Duty scoops. According to their report, the new Advanced Warfare will be built on the updated IW 9.0 engine – the same engine that is used in Modern Warfare 2 and Treyarch’s unannounced games.

This is not surprising. Activision’s recent decision to make IW 9.0 the primary engine for Call of Duty saves various studios resources and development time as they were all running on a fork of the classic engine before.

During the development of Vanguard, the team plans to expand its cast of characters in future sequels. However, given the severity of its underperformance, Vanguard’s sequel is no longer on the table. According to Ralph Valve, the studio was asked for a new promotion.

As you might have guessed, this is a throwback to the faster-paced era of advanced sports that the original Advanced Warfare introduced into Call of Duty. However, the report doesn’t say how much the game will stick to those fundamentals.

Advanced Warfare 2 could end up being a prequel that doesn’t include as much futuristic tech/jetpack-based movement as was supposed, although that’s obviously speculation.

Still, Advanced Warfare 2 internally appears to be slated for a 2025 release — a year after Treyarch’s game, suggesting Activision intends to revert to an annual COD release cadence. 2023 will reportedly be the year without a new Call of Duty, which many believe will be the rhythm of the future.
