Although Bethesda Softwork is part of Xbox Game Studios, the truth is that full merger will take a few more years and part of the company still operates almost independently on many issues. Bethesda has also served as a publisher, so there are some parts that are not yet fully included in the Microsoft studios org chart.

Today we have some exciting news for anyone who likes to read about industry moves. And it is that Pete Hines, who was senior vice president of global marketing and communications at Bethesda, has been promoted to head of global publishing for the company.

Pete Hines and Erin Losi take on new roles at Bethesda

Hines will now manage Bethesda franchises beyond marketing, and will have decision-making power for certain matters at the company level. It’s worth mentioning that the manager is a living legend within the company, so the news was quite well received by the industry in general.

Pete himself confessed in a statement that he was quite happy with the opportunity. These were his words.

It is a privilege to lead global publishing for Bethesda, a place that has been my home for 23 years. It’s gratifying to think about how far we’ve come during this time, and I’m excited to be working in this new role to help our world-class teams build great games.

That’s not the only change the company has undergone, Erin Losi, vice president of global marketing and communications, will now lead all of Bethesda’s global marketing and communications efforts. Here’s what Losi had to say about his new role:

When I started at Bethesda, there were just a handful of us working on campaigns for Skyrim, Fallout 3, and more. Since then, we’ve grown into a world-class marketing and communications team, and it’s been a great joy to be part of that growth alongside Pete.

It’s an honor to join Bethesda’s senior leadership now and lead an award-winning global team of creatives into the future, and empower them to continue their great work on our next line.

Phil Spencer congratulates the two on the promotion

While he’s not the only person within Xbox to have spoken about it, Phil Spencer himself has acknowledged the trajectory of the two and congratulate them for all they can contribute to the American business ecosystem.

Pete has been key to Bethesda’s success over the past two decades. His industry leadership and strong community relationships have extended Bethesda to millions of gamers. Erin has been instrumental in shaping the Bethesda brand and the teams that support it, and I’m incredibly excited to see them both bringing Bethesda games to even more players around the world.

We’ll see how the two evolve in their respective positions, of course this new step in Bethesda from the hand of Xbox looks good.
