It is likely that in a few days Apple will fix the bug with a firmware update.

“Replace the battery soon”, the new AirPods Pro 2 error

The new error was reported via Reddit and several outlets such as MacRumors echoed the news. This is a new bug related to the AirPods Pro 2, the new Apple headphones launched on the market just a few weeks ago. this bug notifies the user via the Find My app that the battery in the headphones and charging case needs to be replaced soon.

The notification reaches any device, whatever it is: iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc. According to experts, this new error has several aspects. Among them, the arrival of the U1 chip in the AirPods Pro 2 allows battery levels to be continuously transmitted to the Search application, which could give false information at any time.

On the other hand, similarities were noted between this notification and the notification the AirTags receive to change the battery. It is possible, and this is one more theory, that the AirTag firmware was also used to configure the MagSafe battery box which could be the source of this interference.

Apple is likely to try to fix the problem first. via an AirPods Pro 2 firmware update. If this persists, we’ll move on to an OS update that might be introduced in iOS 16.1 and the rest of the software updates we’re likely to see in October.
