Konami isn’t ready to formalize the return of Silent Hill just yet, but the director of the first film, Christophe Gans, isn’t hesitating. And he even makes a revelation that will delight more than one fan.
The French director Christopher Goose wrote the screenplay for the next film Return to Silent Hillbut he also doesn’t hesitate to talk about the video games that are being developed… Yes, he confirms the rumors and provides important information about certain people involved.
Silent Hill games with Team Silent, the original team?
More than 15 years after the release of the first Silent Hill film, Christophe Gans returns to bring the Konami franchise back to the big screen. But if the director stands out today, it’s (again) for his indiscretions about the future of the video game franchise.
There are undoubtedly several titles in development for him. In his words, Konami wants to revive the license and was motivated in this endeavor by the huge success of Resident Evil 2 and the more talked about Resident Evil 3.
There are several games. Multiple teams. There are actually quite a few games that will reinvigorate the franchise. I think they were very impressed with the success of Resident Evil 2 and 3, which are absolutely amazing games indeed
. They were impressed, and there was a reason for it, and they thought it was time to go. And that happened to be the moment that Victor Hadida, my producer, and I decided to come back to Silent Hill.Christophe Gans via MaG – film and game.
As a second step, he even says he works with Team Silent, implying that the team would also be involved in unannounced matches.
But who is he talking about? Key members like creator Keiichiro Toyama have been away from Konami for a while. He was at PlayStation and is now working alone on an action and horror game. Maybe he’s referring to lesser-known developers and/or Masahiro Itō (art director) and Akira Yamaoka (series composer), but both also work outside of Konami.
Note on the projects
what are the games Rumors mention multiple projects without really knowing what stage they are at or if some are still relevant.
But in the idea there would be Silent Hill 2 Remake by Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, Observer…), a new game with a demo à la Silent Hills PT by Hideo Kojima and an SMS system, or even another somewhat special title from the publisher of Outer Wilds. What if survival horror opened up to virtual reality? This year, Konami updated the brand with mention of VR…
