Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is an RPG treat. It is in fact accessible to all audiences thanks to its extremely adjustable difficulty and its ability to control character creation. Incredibly rich, it distills its history First already effectively revised. We get sucked into the game very quickly and feel empathy for the entire company that joins us. Furthermore, we must acknowledge the efforts made to have all the dialogues, the encyclopedia and the glossary translated into French. For its part, the maneuverability of the controller is not a problem, you get used to the manipulations required to view the inventory fairly quickly, and this in no way hinders the simple pleasure of immersing yourself in a real console RPG.
Role play for everyone!
What stands out and is very strong enough to make your jaw drop is the Wealth offered at character creation. Indeed, between the avatar itself, classes, talents, and a plethora of other options, it must be very rare for two players to have the same main protagonist. It’s insane, and like any good RPG, it easily takes 30 minutes to form our character arc. We spend ages weighing the pros and cons of boosting one trait at the expense of another, reading the bonuses and/or cons… In short, heroic fantasy RPG as we do more
Beyond that, it’s the accessibility that takes a second knock on the head. Colored indicators show how difficult each class is to master, or which traits should be favored for each class. Without taking the players by the hand, the accompaniment is enough not to lose anyone and to go on an adventure for everyone. Another clue that anyone, veteran or newbie, can start with: the difficulty is adjustable to the max! From the story mode, where a gust of wind kills the enemies, to the hardcore modes, everyone can find their way around.
Regarding maneuverability with the controller, I won’t hide from you that it takes some getting used to to integrate map display, inventories, spells… But since the beginnings are rather slow, it is painless.
Snapshots to start…
However, The tutorial made me laugh: it’s a bunch of clichés. Indeed, as always, it’s a disaster for our obviously amnesiac character who finds himself alone in an unfamiliar land. In this case, here, he loses consciousness at the entrance of Kénabres, a city that will suffer a catastrophic demon attack. The bowels of the earth open up and here our hero is alone again, in underground tunnels. Finally, not for long, because another cliché is approaching: he will very quickly meet other people who will of course join him and form a band of intrepid adventurers! Original, right? No, of course not, but it’s also an opportunity to meet colorful characters that you’ll want to get to know and accompany for hours to save the city from these demons.
After a 3-hour underground prologue, the action of this top-down RPG takes place in the town of Kenabres. With a tavern as our headquarters, we go from objective to objective with random encounters between two points. Between the main story missions, the secondary quests, and those related to the characters you accompany, the mission book fills up quickly and scout
On the combat side, the choice remains between turn-based or real-time. The bestiary isn’t very original, between giant insects, bandits and the living dead, at least for now. I’ve only been in the game for eight hours, enough to understand how the incredible meticulousness that went into the title but too little to see the extent of it. In any case, it makes you want to explore more, to discover the past of our hero, who has reluctantly accepted a fate that eludes him. For now…
