Good news everyone! You can now link your Steam and PSN accounts. If you’re not shaking, screaming, and getting dirty with the hype, that means you can claim something super radiation-free on the PC version of some PlayStation games. Meanness and sarcasm aside, this marks Sony’s latest intrusion into the PC platform.
Would you like some examples of benefits? How about a friend of Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales? If you link your Steam and PSN accounts together, you can claim some cosmetic items and in-game rewards, including the Bouncy Set, the early unlock of Concussion Blast, and two skill points.
But that means nothing, except that Miles Morales players will get a little boost if they decide to pick up the game on PC right now. Well, as briefly mentioned earlier, this is a rather significant milestone in Sony’s slow but steady move into the platform. We’ve seen it push here and there with services like PlayStation Now, allowing you to play games like Bloodborne on PC for a while now, but this newfound connectivity is a great way to port Sony’s biggest games to the The platform adds some extra justification.
However, that doesn’t mean you should expect a simultaneous release anytime soon. Just last week, PlayStation boss Herman Hulst said that Sony’s first-party games won’t be released on PC for “at least a year” after the PlayStation launches, reinforcing our concerns about the company. A host-first stance expected by large corporations.

However, this loosening of the reins does mean acknowledging the strength of the platform as a source of additional players and, of course, sales. This may also not work with live service titles. As Hurst later stated in the aforementioned article, the live service game could be released earlier than that one-year benchmark. Sony has previously announced their intention to release more than 10 live-service games, and Sony has said it wants to support cross-play, and launching those games on PC and PlayStation could help establish a major hitter in the space.
It’s still a far cry from the approach taken by Microsoft, which essentially treats PC and Xbox consoles as two halves of the same business strategy with Game Pass and a joint release date. It’s worth noting, however, that it has the infrastructure to support this, and Sony is largely an outsider to the PC ecosystem.
