The Surface Laptop Go is the newest addition to Microsoft’s Surface lineup, so the device has remained largely unchanged through the generations that have come out so far.
It’s not really a surprise, especially when it comes to a scaled down version of the Surface Laptop main, with somewhat more basic specifications to allow its price to be also cheaper and accessible to everyone.
Although the original version was somewhat disappointing, the second generation of 2022 improved the integers, managing to take a big step forward. It’s easy to recommend, although there’s still a long way to go before it acquires its own hallmark.
When will the Surface Laptop Go 3 be released?
Unsurprisingly, there are no concrete rumors about the Surface Laptop 3 release date at this early stage. However, the team’s first two iterations can give us some clues:
- Surface Laptop Go: October 2020
- Surface Laptop Go 2: Junio 2022
That 20-month gap is longer than what we’d normally see from Microsoft, but the pandemic and global chip shortages could be the big culprits we haven’t seen from next-gen yet.
The company tends to announce new hardware during May and June each year, and in the fall throughout September or October. The second half seems to be the natural date for renewal, so the Surface Laptop Go 3 would arrive in 2023.
Remember that this is just speculation and conjecture at this early stage. We think Microsoft is working on the new device, but that’s the only thing we know for sure. The rest of the configuration aspects still remain to be seen.
How much will the Surface Laptop Go 3 cost?
Prices are often not revealed until the product is officially announced. However, the previous generations give us a glimpse of the price range in which the future device could fall.
- Surface Laptop Go 2: from $669 to $869
- Surface Laptop Go: from $609 to $909
Despite the Laptop Go 2 upgrades, it was encouraging to see the price stay more or less the same. There might be a slight increase by the time its successor arrives, but Microsoft is unlikely to overprice the product.
Surface Laptop Go 3 configuration rumors
The Surface Go 2 Laptop was released in June 2022, so rumors since then have focused on the Surface Pro 9 and the Surface 5 Laptopthe models that recently debuted at the company’s October event.
That means there’s not much news on the Laptop Go 3 at this early stage, but we still have a pretty good idea of what to expect next-gen.
Microsoft is unlikely to deviate from the formula that made the first two generations so successful, including compact design and craftsmanship. prime.
There may be some tweaking to the 12.4-inch screen, but it’ll likely still be smaller than what your average laptop offers. The same can be said for the weight of 1.16 kg which makes it one of the lightest laptops you can buy.
Based on that, what updates can you expect from the Surface Laptop Go 3? It is almost certain that we will see new processors, and it is likely that they will continue to come from Intel. The Laptop Go is generally an outdated generation, which makes the current 12th generation chips a strong contender.
If the device is delayed until 2024, there’s every indication that they can match the 13th Gen Intel Core, but that’s something that remains to be seen. Could there also be the option of an ARM-based processor?
These chips were limited to Surface Pro X for a while, but the inclusion of an ARM option on the Surface Pro 9 is fueling Windows Central rumors that a Qualcomm chip could be making its way into Surface Go 4 setups.
Microsoft will likely focus its ARM expansion on more affordable devices, making the Laptop Go 3 a likely candidate. However, we must point out that this is pure speculation at this early stage.
If the Laptop Go 3 switches to ARM, it can lead to a noticeable increase in battery life. This could allow the device to offer all-day battery life without increasing the capacity from the 41 Wh.
Hopefully Microsoft will improve 39W charging and stop using the dedicated Surface Connect as the primary charging method, but the latter seems unlikely. It would also be nice to see improved thermals and backlit keys, which remain a much-hyped omission.
