Use a series of tricks and tweaks to restore your Bluetooth connectivity.
The connection Bluetooth allows us to access a large number of functions available on iPhone, iPad and mac. With Bluetooth connectivity enabled, you can use AirDrop to share files between devices, connect wireless headphones and earphones without using cables, use external keyboards, and many other peripherals.
Despite the excellent reliability offered by Bluetooth connectivity on Apple Mac computers, you may occasionally have problems. And the truth is that it can be really uncomfortable and frustrating to see that the devices that we try to connect via Bluetooth are not recognized by the Mac.
Then we will look at a series of configuration options, functions and tips for solve problems that may cause the Bluetooth connection even to restore the Bluetooth module, as well as other means that we recommend from 9to5mac to eliminate any interference.
How to Fix Bluetooth Connection Issues on Mac
There are several ways and methods to solve the problems that can affect the Bluetooth connection on a Mac computer, we will guide you step by step so that you can regain the full efficiency of the Bluetooth connection and that your Mac computer identifies, recognizes and connects to your favorite devices in seconds.
Software update, battery level and decoupling
We are going to start this tutorial to fix Bluetooth connection issues on Mac with the easiest and most common methods. You’ve probably tried these solutions before, but if you haven’t already, you should start here.
Software update
Check for the latest macOS software updates to make sure your PC isn’t experiencing Bluetooth issues because of it. Go to “System Preferences > Software Update” to check.
Drums
Check the battery level of Bluetooth devices you’re trying to connect to your Mac and, if necessary, charge their battery.
Wired connection
If possible, connect the same Bluetooth device (headphones, keyboards, mice, headsets, etc.) via a cable to see if the problem is with the operation of the device. If they don’t work, the problem is not with the Bluetooth connection.
Disabling Features
Turn off or turn off the Bluetooth device and turn it back on. Turn off then on the Bluetooth connection on your Mac. Unpair the Bluetooth device and pair it again to see if the connection improves. You can do this by accessing the Bluetooth Preferences panel directly in the menu bar or in “System Preferences > Bluetooth” by right-clicking on the device and selecting the “Delete” option.
Finally, as a last option, try restarting your Mac to retry connecting a device via Bluetooth. In the event that this method is also not effective, we still have many solutions to recover the Bluetooth connection.
How to Remove Bluetooth Interference
From the Apple Help and Support Center, they recommend that if you have problems with the Bluetooth connection, try to eliminate wireless interference by following a series of steps.
There are clear symptoms that suggest there are issues with Bluetooth connectivity – and also in the Wi-Fi connection – which are caused by interference. If the device does not connect or stay connected for a long time and/or its the signal is weak, interference is likely. Users may also experience audio dropouts, static, or buzzing.
Fortunately, there are ways to avoid this interference in the Bluetooth connection.
- Move your Mac closer to the Bluetooth device you want to connect, the closer the better.
- Avoid using wireless devices near sources that regularly create interference such as fluorescent lights, microwaves, video cameras…
- Reduce the number of devices using the Bluetooth connection on the same computer to prevent the frequency band from collapsing.
- Use Wi-Fi devices with 5 GHz to avoid saturating the 2.4 GHz network.
- Disable USB devices that you are not using.
- Avoid using materials such as metal between your Mac and the Bluetooth device.
How to Restore the Bluetooth Module on Your Mac
This method is very radical and will disconnect all Bluetooth-connected accessories from your Mac. Including mouse and keyboard. So make sure this is one of the last methods you use to fix Bluetooth issues on your Mac.
Follow these steps to restore the Bluetooth module on your Mac running macOS Monterey:
1. Open the Terminal app.
2. Type the command “sudo pkill bluetoothd”.
3. Press the “Enter” key on your keyboard.
4. Then enter your password if necessary.
5. Finally, restart your Mac.
In macOS Big Sur, hold down the “option + shift” keys and press the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar. Finally select the “Reset Bluetooth module” option.
Additionally, it is also recommended to remove all Bluetooth devices from your Mac’s Bluetooth preference panel.
If all the above methods failed…
In the unfortunate event that none of the previous methods were effective and were able to fix your Bluetooth connection issues, we still have one last option which is not the most desired but will allow you to continue using accessories on your Mac.
This is not the ideal solution, but if the Bluetooth device you are trying to connect to has a cable and/or you have an adapter through which you can connect it to the USB ports of your Mac computer, you can continue to use it without having to access Bluetooth connectivity.
We stress that it’s not the most ideal option, especially in the wireless future that Apple and other companies want us to offer, but today most wireless devices also have a wired alternative.
