Are we living a new golden age in the Android gaming industry? Suddenly, many projects based on the platform developed by Google that focus on gamers appear; Recently the Logitech console surprised us, but it will not be the only one.

Now it’s Razer’s turn, with the new Razer Edge. A device that, more than a console, is a great mobile (or a small tablet) with Razer Kishi controllers attached for a better gaming experience.

It’s the Razer console

Of course, in a gaming device, the important thing is the hardware, because what the experience will be in our games depends on it. And in this sense, the Razer Edge seems to have more than enough, mounting the new Qualcomm gaming processor, the Snapdragon G3x which should ensure good performance in titles designed for Android.

But the games from the Play Store will not be the only ones we can enjoy. Like others, the Razer Edge is a console designed for the cloud, and the custom interface will allow us to access services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now. In these cases, the console is not running the games, but an external server; which will allow us to enjoy the latest games without problems.

The downside to cloud gaming is that you need a constant internet connection, and Razer solved that problem by making the jump to 5G, which offers enough transfer speeds to play anywhere; moreover, it became the first manufacturer to offer a console with 5G, since the Logitech G Cloud was only based on WiFi.

The rest of the specs are up to par, with a 6.9-inch AMOLED display that stands out for its 144Hz refresh rate, which is always more important for gamers; although the 2400 x 1800 pixel resolution is also welcome. Razer Kishi controls will enhance the experience with its Razer Hypersense haptic system, with advanced vibrations, as well as buttons with micro switches.

The Razer Edge will be available in two versions, Wi-Fi and 5G, although we only know the price of the former: $399.99. This is perhaps the biggest hurdle for this device, as it faces stiff competition from the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck. It will be available in the United States in January 2023, with date and prices to be determined in Europe.
