The past few years have been torture for anyone silent Hill fan. We’ve been through rumor after rumor, leak after leak, and still haven’t heard a whisper from Konami. It’s gotten to the point where many fans are desperate for a new launch in the critical horror series, but many accept it may never happen. Instead, we’ve been working on — and struggling — to replay some of the best horror games we’ve seen since.
It’s been a full ten years since the last full Silent Hill game, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and it’s been 7 years since we all rejoiced at PT, and then got ridiculed by the cancellation of Silent Hill. Needless to say, the journey to becoming a Silent Hill fan has been quite bumpy.
Well, Konami seems to be full of surprises.Last night, the official Silent Hill Twitter account shared: “Did you see that town in your disturbed dreams? The latest update to the Silent Hill series will be announced during the #SILENTHILL transmission Wednesday, October 19 at 2:00 PM PDT. “Yes, Konami. I’ve had disturbing dreams about that town since I was a kid; why do you think most of us can’t wait to go back?”
For reference, it is Wednesday, October 19, 2pm PDT/10pm BST/5pm ET/4pm ET.

The announcement was then retweeted by Masahiro Ito, who often works as art director and monster designer on the Silent Hill series. Most notably, he created the Pyramid Head; he later said he hated his creation. Ito didn’t say why, but many fans believe it’s because enemies like Pyramid Head are inherently unique to the game they’re in. And, he ended up in a bunch of other Silent Hill games as well. He’s also been very vocal about how tired he is from dealing with fans’ misunderstandings about the game.
This doesn’t confirm whether Ito was involved; he just supported the series he helped create. That said, if Ito is involved, it’s safe to say that any new (or old) enemy we encounter will be at their best.
Note that just recently, Silent Hill: SMS was rated on the Korean Game Rating Board. That’s likely to be part of what we saw in Wednesday’s transmission.
However, that’s not all. We’ve also heard a lot of rumours about a Silent Hill 2 remake. Just last week, Christophe Gans (Silent Hill’s film director, 2006) shared in an interview, “I’m working with the original creators of Konami, Silent Team, and as we said, there are several games in development. “
And let’s not forget the screenshots from Bloober Team’s internal promotion for Silent Hill 2 Remake. If all these rumours point to anything, it’s that we’re likely to see James Sunderland again soon.
